Child's Play Quilts: Book Blog Hop
Hey gang! Do you guys know Stacey Day? She's pretty awesome. I met her at my first QuiltCon in Texas, when she commented on my blog that she would be willing to go cowboy boot shopping with me. She was also willing to drink a margarita at every meal with me, gabbed about everything quilty, visited me at my first book signing, listened to me cry because my return flight was canceled, and was basically the best friend I could have ever hoped for. Then, when we were eating, she told me all about how she was in the midst of publishing a quilt book when the publishing company went under.
I was horrified. She had done so much work, all for naught. But she was positive about the experience, and I knew that she would still something great.
Then she got picked up by another publishing company! And.....the same thing happened.
So, I can't even imagine how excited she is to FINALLY have her book published. This woman is amazing. She is tenacious, she is kind, she is a wonderful mom, and she is an awesome quilt pattern designer. I once told her she was the unknown VIP of quilt market, because she does soooo many patterns for fabric companies and fabric designers. If you were to walk around market, you'd see a lot of quilts she designed.
Like this epic Tula Pink pattern? Stacey Day.
And this epic Heather Ross pattern? Stacey Day.
And now this book? Let me hear you say it - Stacey Day!
Girl, you did it. Champagne toasts all around!!!!
I started working on her "Rainbow Bright" pattern, and this is my current progress:
It has been going really fast, which is excellent, considering I have been sorely neglected all my friends' recent babies. Poor kiddos! This is her version, so you can see what mine will become:
Mine will just have the two fabrics, and hopefully I'll have enough navy for the borders, as well. I have been hoarding that pink Joel Dewberry print for quite awhile (I bought it at a liquidation sale), and wasn't sure how to use it - it's very pretty, but definitely not my usual choice. I'm really enjoying it with the navy to tone down all the pink ;) and the quilt pattern is doing really lovely things with the large-scale print.
