Finised Quilt: Emery
So I finally finished this quilt...I think I started it at least 1.5 years ago. Yeesh. It was one of those projects that was simple, elegant, and I loved it....and then I tried to quilt it. And I hated what it looked like. Hated, hated, hated. So I painstakingly picked it all out and sent it off to Emily for longarm quilting. She totally saved it.
Dang, Emily, that's gorgeous work!!!! I'm horrible at going to the post office, but I really need to send her more of my quilts, because I'm always blown away by her skill and vision. She completely transforms my quilt tops in ways I never could have imagined.
And she sent it back over a year ago, but I was still retaining all sorts of angsty feelings towards it since it took so long to unpick that quilting. So I put it away where I couldn't see it. I would occasionally dig it back out, and finally I could look at it without feeling rage. Which meant it was time to bind and enjoy this beauty!
I named it Emery, after my friend's daughter, because when I see the quilt with its diamonds and coloring, I just think of her name and her gorgeous red hair.
I opted for a streak of white binding, to counterbalance the larger white diamonds on the opposite side. Binding is my favorite place to add an unexpected little punch! Now I just need to go and wash this beauty. Oh, and send off a whole stack of quilt tops to Emily :D
