WIP Wednesday: a quick little baby quilt
Every baby needs a quilt! I started this one for #3, who was due last Thursday but is still chilling quite comfortably, taking his time. I know, I know! But no worries, he'll come out when he's ready :). His due date seemed like a good time to start his quilt, right? ;) Normally my mom makes my kids their nice baby quilts, and I make the ones that are essentially carpet protectors (you know....puke catchers...lol).
Since they get a lot of wear and tear, I just go for something simple. For Charlie, I made the Moda "eat, play, sleep, repeat" quilt, and for Johnny, I made the escape artist quilt.
I was envisioning something more masculine with a military vibe for this quilt. Heather at Crimson Tate (my local modern quilt shop) is a huuuuge enabler and posts photos on her facebook page of all the new fabrics that she stocks at her store. The Lizzy House tone on tone black/charcoal pearl bracelets just screamed to me! I paired them with some Essex Linen and grabbed a fun deer print for the backing.
I decided on a simple plus quilt...
Strip pieced it to save time....
Worked on basting....
Absolutely love the interaction of the textures here!
It just needs some quilting and binding :)
