Modern Quilts Unlimited: Mod Blocks
I'm so excited to share a quilt with you today that was published in Modern Quilts Unlimited!
It's a twin/full size, finishing at 78" x 90" (ish). It was hard to find space to photograph inside since it's been so icky out!
I've applied to a few publications, some with luck and some without, and was really grateful to get picked up by this magazine for a quilt pattern. They were very professional and a joy to work with. I also thought the staged photograph they took of the quilt looked really beautiful:
I pretty much want to steal that bed!
The color balance in the magazine made the quilt look more aqua-y than it is in real life, but I think it shows how the quilt can look more feminine depending on your color choice. Not to mention, that was the color I originally wanted to make the quilt in, so I was pretty happy to see it depicted as such, lol :).
I used a rectangular meander in a somewhat smaller scale and absolutely looooove the texture it gave the quilt. Free Spirit Fabrics provided me with some Kaffe Fasset shot cottons, and holy cow are they soft! Especially after the quilting. It's currently my favorite quilt to snuggle with at the house. I backed it in a fun crossword puzzle fabric.
So if you get a chance to buy or thumb through the winter issue of Modern Quilts Unlimited, please do so!! And be sure to check out Elizabeth's quilt in there, as well - I seriously want to steal that quilt. Plus, she took some fabulous photos of it.
Anyway, I'm so excited to have one of my first print publication patterns out!!! This was a big goal for me, and it was a bit of a pain to do all the math and digital sketches, but the results are well worth it :)
