Fat Quarterly: Juicy Fruit
Remember the orange strings I showed you before?
Well, they turned into this!
The pattern for Juicy Fruit (aptly named by my guild friends!) is now available in Fat Quarterly.
It's a great quilt pattern to use up a huge pile of strings.
20" blocks are made from white square centers with sections of orange strings surrounding them. The string sections are mitered, and when all the blocks are put together, they make a huge mashup of strings.
I quilted it with a ton of different orange threads, including some variegated orange pearl cotton (tutorial on quilting with pearl cotton here). Basically I was channeling my inner Charlotte :)
At the suggestion of a LQS owner, I used two layers of batting to make this quilt nice and thick. It's heavy cozy and shows off the quilting nicely that way.
I'm super excited, since it's my first publication!! Can't wait to show you a few more coming up :)
